somebody i used to know
you can get addicted to a certain kind of sadness
the first new directions were magic. they didn't always like each other, and rehearsals
usually resulted in at least one person storming out and/or threatening to quit (and sometimes
following through on that threat). but when push came to shove, they would always band
together and unite on stage, and magic would happen. the first time they went to
nationals, they took twelfth place, which isn't bad for the first time there. the second time,
they won. after graduation, that first group mostly fell out of touch with each other. it's time
for that to change, since a reunion is coming up, and most of them decided to go.
like resignation to the end, always the end
there's been a new directions group every year, but none of them have captured the
magic that the first group had. they've won sectionals every year, regionals most
years, and have placed in the top ten in nationals a few times, but none of them have won
again. with noah puckerman and brittany s. pierce taking over new directions, they intend
for that to change. a new batch of talent hascrossed through the door, and there's hopes that
this new version of new directions can come together and produce magic again.
so when we found that we could not make sense
at dalton academy, things have remained mostly unchanged. the year after new directions
won nationals, sebastian smythe led the warblers to victory, but after that, while the warblers
remained solid, and they've gone to nationals a few times when new directions didn't,
they haven't had the blaze of brilliance that sebastian was able to bring out in them. they still
run by the council and tradition, but there's some new blood in that might shake things up.
well, you said that we could still be friends
at carmel, vocal adrenaline has remained number one, winning nationals every year since the
year after the warblers won on the tails of new directions' win the previous year. will they hold
onto their crown and continue their reign, or will there be a shakeup and new royalty?
but i'll admit that i was glad it was over
